What Are You Even Doing Here? I Mean, What Story Do You Want to Tell?

I want to tell the story of white supremacy

& have the words The End

break the fallacy spell

I want to tell the story of 

depression as a wishing well

& ask for everything else

I want 

to tell  

the story 

cele-

brating

incre-

mental

change

I want to tell the story with a moral that helps

the client I put to bed get some sleep 

so he doesn’t tell me the next shift

about how useless my caregiving is (basically)

I want to tell the story that begins

exactly where I am

like Once 

right now 

in a friend’s basement

in my body

& my housemate’s dog 

asleep on my bed

in a zoom workshop

where the instructor

calls us friends

& I believe it

is enough

that I don’t want to skip

to The End

that I don’t believe 

in happily ever after

just that I am

& I will be

again
