“Inhalation & Exhalation”
by Winston TL
Outside
hadn’t ever tasted where the wind had traveled
until my heart valued inhalation & exhalation
a human being - not dissimilar from a sprout above dirt
shining under sunbeams,
growing strong with rain,
and might be the treasure of rainbow ends
Inside
do those tiny birds and flying bugs
consistently tap on the windows
because they’re unconsciously driven to,
theyre fascinated by their reflections,
and/or they like the interior design of this place?
heliotropism
(when plants turn towards the sun)
why does that one tree branch
slap the window day AND night
when it always feels dark in here?
Outside (May 2020)
three teenagers hop over fences
on top of defunct railroads,
hundreds of feet above the street
without wearing masks (during a pandemic!)
Smells Like Teen Spirit.
forbidden acts for non-altruistic causes
driven by brain cells that light up
from thrill without foresight
Inside (May 2020)
A Room of One’s Own:
fortunate to have it
for it houses the
dehumanization, abuse, manipulation, deceit,
boundary breaking, disrespect, mistrust,
injustice, marginalization, slights,
indifference and the few more pains
this brokenheart feels and witnessed
and the brain still needs to name
Transition
tonights party is the moon
polished like an extravagant pearl
the size of half a pizza
giving as much solace as it can
until we return.
Until we return.
