COVID Lungs: A Trilogy

These three pieces of mixed-media art are motivated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first image, COVID 1, depicts the brewing storm driven by the wet-markets in China where trafficked animals are kept in conditions of bio-insecurity which were (and remain) ripe for zoonotic events. It depicts the warning by scientists from thirteen years ago that SARS emerged from these conditions and the next deadly pandemic will likely do so as well.

The second, COVID2, depicts the reckoning of this brutal disease and the concomitant haphazard way in which countries like the United States (mis)managed the disease causing hundreds of thousands of deaths, which continue unabated.

The third, COVID3, depicts the future when we have made it through the other side of pandemic. Running across all three pieces is the image of the damaged lung.
